f you haven’t heard, Apple is hosting a media event at its Cupertino campus later in the day, where it is expected to launch a bunch of new products including a new iPhone. Interestingly, this new iPhone isn’t going to be a successor to the current iPhone 6S, but is rumoured to be a successor to the two year old iPhone 5S. More than even the iPhone, Apple could end up launching a bunch of other products. So let’s take a look at everything Apple is expected to unveil in the next couple of hours.
By all intents, the iPhone SE will likely be the star of the show. For long-time iPhone users who have been disappointed by the large screens of the iPhone 6 and 6S, this will also come as breath of fresh air as the rumour mill is pointing towards a 4-inch iPhone. Design wise, the device is said to combine elements of the iPhone 5S and also the iPhone 6S. By this we mean, the phone could have rounded corners and no chamfers, yet have a full metal body. It is also expected to get a major upgrade in the form of the new A9 processor which is used by the iPhone 6S. Apple will likely make the camera the headlining act of the phone as reports suggest that it will get the very same 12-megapixel camera that is in the iPhone 6S with support for things like 4K video and live photos. Even the front camera could get a 5-megapixel sensor. Pricing wise, the phone could be launched at the same price as the iPhone 5S, which could mean a pricing of less than $600. The phone could also run a new version of iOS, but it will likely be a version of iOS 9, than a full blow new version.
iPad Pro 9.7-inch model
For the longest time, Apple was expected to launch the reprise to the iPad Air 2 , but now it appears that Apple will probably launch a smaller version of the iPad Pro. The smaller model is expected to have a 9.7-inch display with support for the Apple Pencil and also the new A9X processor which was on the iPad Pro. Apple could also unveil a smaller ‘smart keyboard’ which would work with it. The design of the tablet could be similar to the iPad Pro, though it will be smaller thanks to the smaller display. This also means that it could come with a 4-speaker system. Apple could also equip the tablet with the 12-megapixel camera from the iPhone 6S instead of the 8-megapixel camera which is on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. It will be offered in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models and there will also be versions that will support 4G LTE networks.
For the Apple Watch , the Cupertino based technology giant is expected showcase a myriad of software updates than enhance it capabilities. It could also call upon some new developers to show-off new apps for it. Besides this, there could be a black Milanese loop model. A brand new Apple Watch 2 is highly unlikely.
Last year at its March event Apple showcased the MacBook with Retina Display. It was a unique machine which had a new design and boldly dumped the traditional USB port for the new USB Type-C standard. It was deemed to be under-powered by many. Perhaps, Apple could launch a new model of the same with an upgraded processor.
