Tamilnadu’s most influential CM and its Amma, J Jayalalithaa’s demise on Monday night came across as a major shock to her many fans. She has always been a very influential name in the political field and her huge fan following proves her popularity. Let us shed light on her background and have a look at some of her rare and unseen pictures.


Jayalalithaa’s acting career started off with an English play “Epistle” in 1961. The beautiful actress went on to act in over 140 films of which 60 were in Tamil.


She was persuaded by her mother Sandhya to take up acting at a young age of 15.


A fluent speaker of Hindi, English, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu, Jayalalitha was a bright student. An excellent student, she was given the Gold State Award for coming first in 10th standard in not just her school but also in Tamil Nadu.


Jayalalitha made her debut with the movie “Vennira Aadai” in the year 1965. The, she gave some super-hits like Deiva Magan, Oli Villaku, Adimai Penn, Gallata Kalyanam, Kudi Iruntha Kovil and Avirathil Oravan.


Jayalalitha was one of the most prominent faces of the South film industry and bankable stars of the 60s.


She was also known for her dancing skills and was referred to as the queen of Tamil cinema.
